Vincent Valentine- Can a heart still break when it isn't beating?

A/N: this is the sequel to the truth will set you free! I do not own Final Fantasy or Vincent Valentine,  but I do own the plot and Luna.

Summary : Luna has to face something new she never thought would ever happen. When she starts falling deeply in love with the man who once loved her sister. Living in the same home as him doesn't make things on her heart any easier when she constantly sees the man who has finally just accepted her presence.

* * *

It had been over a year since she had come into his life. Over a year since that fateful day when he met Luna. Vincent was sitting in his room staring out the window, deep in thought. He listened carefully as he heard Luna humming in the kitchen.

Over all Luna had taken it upon herself to fix the mansion and to Vincents' surprise she had done quite a good job. The floor and roof had been the most difficult to fix, but they had found methods which helped the building retain its abandoned appeal. She had gone as far to set up a room of his own for him.

He had noticed her night terrors were also much less as she managed to sleep peacefully most nights. They had both grown much closer, and unbeknownst to Vincent, his own feelings had grown for the young woman.

Luna had been debating with herself for weeks over what to do in her current situation. She was madly in love with Vincent, yet she was afraid to let him know how she felt. She was so afraid he would just run and leave her. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she made her way upstairs to his room.

She knocked on his door, "Vincent, dinner is ready." She cooed softly before turning and walking back to the kitchen. A few moments passed as she sat down and he walked into the kitchen.

"It smells very good." He commented as he sat down across from Luna.

She smiled, a small, light blush dusting her cheeks as she looked down at her plate. "Hmm, I'm glad." She smiled brightly before slowly tucking in to her meal.

Vincent noticed the wine on the table and looked at the small female who had poured some for both of them. He instantly noticed it as one she had found in the basement and wondered if it would even be okay to drink. "This?" He pointed to the bottle on the table.

Luna smiled. "Uh... well I found a lot of it in the basement and so I did check if it was okay and besides been a little strong it's drinkable." A light blush again dusted her cheeks as she took a sip of hers. It had seemed her previous sentence was a bit of an understatement about the strength of the wine itself.

Once they had finished eating they cleaned the kitchen occasionally chatting about small things and other things they wanted to do when they found them self's pretty close.

Luna had tried to pack away a glass and it had slipped out of her grasp as she barely managed to push it's base onto the shelf, when it tipped and fell towards her head. Vincent seeing this had rushed over to her but in the process of catching the glass not realised his body was pressed flush against Luna whose face went blood red.

It was when they both glanced at one and other that Luna found herself drawn to the man. She couldn't stop staring at him. Her hands gently touched his cheeks and hair, ghosting down to his shoulders, like he was going to disappear. For the first time in years she felt a stinging pain in her chest when she had moved to try and kiss him but he stopped her still staring down at her.

Vincent watched as she stared up at him in confusion, tears brimming up in her eyes. Her touch made his skin almost burn and she had wanted to kiss him. He was confused as to why such a beautiful, kind person would want to do that to him, but he was a man after all and soon found himself leaning down, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.

Luna stared up at him, eyes wide, "V - Vincent?" Her soft voice washed over him as he watched her fingers brush over her lips gently.

"Why have you got such an interest in a person like me?"  He asked, his voice calm and quiet as he watched her every move.

Luna struggled with herself before swallowing the lump in her throat. "I... I.... I have fallen for y - you. And if you don't feel the same I can f - fully understand." She rushed out as she looked down at his shoes.

Vincent however stood shocked into silence at what the young woman had just told him. He had so many questions swimming through his mind when he looked down at her that he did the one thing he knew best and disappeared.

Luna stood in the kitchen still eyes wide, staring at the spot he had been in, tears streaming down her face as she slid down against the cupboard pulling her knees to her chest as she cried silently. She had scared him away she kept mulling over the thought as she looked up at the clock on her wall.

Hours had past and Luna was sitting on his bed staring out his window, her tears had long since dried up but her chest still ached. " I guess a heart can still break even if it isn't beating." The words slipped past her lips bitterly as she hiccuped softly from crying.

Vincent had found himself in the one place he hadn't gone to in years before he met Luna. Before him was the crystal that held his beloved Lucrecia. He was bitter and angry as he stood before her. "What was I thinking staying near your sister all this time... She makes me feel... She makes me feel like I did when I loved you." His voice cracked as he stared at the unchanging woman.

" She told me that she has fallen for me, but I'm doomed to be alone forever , my chaos side is a monstrosity, why did you save me, when all it did was put me through more pain having to accept something I don't want." His voice dropped to a mere whisper as he sat down and stared at Lucrecia in silence.

"How can a girl be so kind and understanding when she went through the same thing." He mumbled as he thought about Luna. She was always smiling. Always energetic. He had read through her box she had found over the nights when she had fallen asleep, she was just like him, dying when she was saved by that crazy professor who ruined his life. She had been a test subject long before him, though she was a bit younger than he was. She knew the loneliness he had endured yet he pushed her away.

The one person that truly understood his feelings and what he had been through, he has without thought, even after knowing what he did, pushed her away. Vincent felt his heart drop. So he sat, in that cave hoping that Luna would just forget about him and move on with her life,  after all she had time on her side.
